Store Policies
Before purchasing a yūgen product, please look over our policies and FAQ. Our policies are firm, and aim to be fair to everyone. Please carefully read them, along with individual product descriptions, and contact us with questions before purchasing. By purchasing from us, you agree to these policies and are accepting responsibility that you have carefully read the item description and viewed all product photographs of the piece you are purchasing.
★ Payment can be sent through various payment methods which can be selected at checkout.
★ All items (unless otherwise specified on our turnaround times page) take 2-5 business days to produce from the time the order is placed before they are shipped. We aim in all situations to exceed these timelines and your expectations, but use this window as a general guideline on when your item will be shipping.
★ If you need to upgrade your shipping to something faster for your deadline, you can do so during checkout, but this will NOT rush production. If you need an item produced faster than stated, please let us know before you order. A rush fee will apply. Please note - shipping times are estimates, not guarantees.
★ All of our items are packed with quality materials and significant care. But no matter how much care one uses, there can sometimes be mishaps and damage during shipment. If your item is damaged in transit, please contact us upon it's arrival with photographs of the item and the package (exactly how it came to you) and we will issue a replacement or repair when the damaged item is returned to us, or it is deemed "un-repairable" and ask you to dispose of it.
★ If you fear your shipped order has been lost in transit, please contact us and we can work something out (for international buyers, there will be a longer waiting period unfortunately.) In the case of packages lost in transit, refunds will not be given and replacements can be discussed. To ease your mind, insurance is also available for an extra fee. Domestic packages shipped within the US will have tracking information, but international packages may not. If you would like to guarantee that your package is tracked, domestic or international, contact us prior to purchase.
★ If your item was marked as delivered by the post office, though you did not actually receive the physical item, please verify the address you provided during checkout, contact your neighbors, housemates, postal carrier and local post office to deal with the issue. In most cases, it was just mis-delivered or mis-scanned and has a way of working itself out over time. We are not responsible for replacements of items that were mis-delivered or mis-scanned at the fault of your local post office. If these items are returned to us because of their mistake, we will gladly re-send them to you at no cost.
★ We are NOT responsible for any duties, taxes or brokerage fees that are incurred from border crossing, nor do we have any knowledge of what they may be at the time of your order. No refunds in any circumstance due to these fees will be given. No exceptions.If you'd like to make a purchase to ship to a country within the EU where VAT is collected up front, or you are buying with a shipping address to the UK, please buy from our Etsy Shop instead. It’s the same collection of products, but we are able to use the Etsy marketplace VAT number which makes it easier to ship to you when you purchase from there!
★ Items that you would like to return due to a skin sensitivity do not qualify for refunds or exchanges. If you have skin sensitivities, please carefully read the listing description and contact us if you are unsure. We do offer many pieces in sterling silver and 14k gold, and most of our pieces are nickel and lead free and we are happy to find a good match for you.
★ We do not, under any circumstances, refund shipping charges, production upgrade fees, or reimburse you for return shipping or any incurred customs charges or import taxes/duties/fees.
★ We stand behind our products and our materials. If you are dissatisfied with your item, please contact us within 90 days of receiving it. As long as it is not a final sale item, as specified below, we are happy to offer an exchange of equal value or send a refund minus a 15% restocking fee once the item is returned to us. It does not apply to exchanges, only refunds. It is non-negotiable.★ Custom orders do not qualify for exchanges or refunds. Please read the list below for items that do not qualify for returns.★ International shipments that are returned to us due to a failure to pay customs/duties/taxes upon import do not qualify for a refund. Re-shipment costs are your responsibility as well.

Payment & Tax
★ Maryland residents or buyers shipping to Maryland, or any other states that have laws requiring it, will be charged sales tax at checkout.★ Payment can be sent through various payment methods which can be selected at checkout.
Shipping
★ We currently offer free first class shipping for most orders over $35 that ship within the USA! There are some exceptions. Shipping speed upgrades are available for an additional fee at checkout. Shipping charges, if any, will be calculated at checkout.★ We ship to the address provided at checkout. Please be sure that it is correct before completing checkout. If it is not, please notify us immediately so we can make the change before shipment. Refunds, Cancellations, & Exchanges

Your satisfaction is our priority - we want to be sure you are happy and are open to trying to work out a positive solution within our policies. And in finding that solution, we deeply appreciate your patience and kindness.★ If you need to cancel your order, a cancellation request must be received within 12 hours from your order being placed. Order cancellations after 12 hours from the time the order is placed do not qualify for a cancellation due to the nature of our production and shipping.★ You have 90 days from the time the item is delivered to contact us with any returns or problems with what you purchased. As mentioned above, if damage or loss occurs when in transit, no refunds will be issued but repairs and/or replacements can be discussed. We will not issue a refund or exchange until the original item is received back in the condition in which it was received or see photographs of the damaged item with the packaging it came in. If an item is damaged after the 90 day period, no action will be taken. What is yūgen?
The word has origins in Japanese culture and has no exact English translation. But in short, it means "our awareness of our existence in the Universe that brings on feelings so profound that we cannot express them." This encompasses our vision in so many ways. We do our work humbled by the Universe every day - the beauty and expanse, the unknown and the known, the big and the small, the abstract and the very precise, the things we cannot comprehend and the things we know and understand so intimately that it makes life worth living. The people, the places, the experiences, the Planet, the Universe - the big, the small, it all adds up to yūgen.I just placed my order - when can I expect it?
All of our items are handcrafted to order. Please be sure to check our turnaround times, which are updated regularly based on our current workload. While we always aim to exceed expectations and work as quickly as possible, this up-to-date information gives you the estimated time it will take to produce your order between the date it was ordered and the date it will ship (unless otherwise specified in the item details on the page you ordered from.) Time in transit once it ships entirely depends on the shipping speed you chose at checkout. Please be sure to contact us before ordering if you have a specific deadline to meet so we can help you meet it!I live outside of the USA - will I be charged duties and import fees? I don't want to pay them!
There is a very good chance that you may get charged import duties and taxes if you live outside the USA. Unfortunately, we do not have control over this. We will not mark packages as gifts or lie about the value to try and get around these laws on your behalf. It is considered postal fraud and is a crime. We also do not refund, reimburse, or hold any responsibility for any duties or taxes that may be charged. Packages that are returned to us for this reason or because they were refused will not qualify for a refund. And if this does happen and you would like the item re-sent to you, you will be responsible to pay for the reshipment costs and any duties/taxes upon pick-up in your country. What are your hours?
We believe that a well-rounded life, self-care, and separation are important so we can give you the best of ourselves and our work. Currently, our in studio hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 10-4 EST unless it is a high traffic peak time (like the holidays.) Though we do typically answer emails during our off-hours when we can.What is your return policy?

All of our jewelry arrives with care information. None of our jewelry is 100% waterproof, even though they are crafted with water resistance in mind. Please avoid submerging your jewelry in water (remove before showering, swimming, etc.) If your jewelry needs cleaning, please polish with a soft dry cloth. If your piece has a shiny finish, storing it in an airtight plastic bag when not in use will help slow down any tarnishing or oxidation. You can always clean this with a soft, dry cloth and a little elbow grease, too!I have a brick and mortar / online store and think your stuff would be perfect! Do you wholesale or consign?

Turnaround Times
Hello! Welcome to Yugen Handmade.---Below are the current production turnaround times on all items in our store. This is the amount of time it will take from the time an order is placed to the time it ships as our items are handcrafted with care. The speed at which it ships is determined by your shipping location and the shipping speed you choose at checkout.You can also keep up with us on social media, which is linked in our footer. *All retail orders $35 or more from our online store qualify to ship for free with Ground Advantage USPS mail within the USA. Wholesale items do not qualify for free shipping.

Jewelry Care
All of our jewelry arrives with care information so this is handy when you open your package! But just in case you miss it, here it is again.
- None of our jewelry is 100% waterproof, even though they are crafted with water resistance in mind. Please avoid submerging your jewelry in water (remove before showering, swimming, etc.)
- If your jewelry needs cleaning, please polish with a soft dry cloth.
